Lessons

Private instruction is an essential tool for advancing in about any discipline, as it provides tailored guidance and personalized attention that can significantly enhance a student’s learning experience. When started early, students typically learn the basics and improve at faster rates than those who do not take lessons, as they benefit from a structured approach that builds a strong foundation. By engaging in one-on-one interactions with an instructor, learners can receive immediate feedback, address their unique challenges, and cultivate a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Moreover, private instruction fosters a sense of accountability and motivation, enabling students to set and achieve their personal goals while developing the skills necessary for long-term success.

Dr. Haynes has time slots available for all ages and skill levels, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to advanced learners, has the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge. While face-to-face instruction is always best for personalized interaction and immediate feedback, there are moments when it is not feasible due to distance or scheduling conflicts. In such cases, Zoom lessons provide a convenient alternative, allowing students to engage in real-time learning from the comfort of their own homes. Generally, lessons will take place in Franklin; however, if needed, other arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis to accommodate specific needs or circumstances of individual students. This flexible approach ensures that everyone can benefit from Dr. Haynes’ expertise, regardless of their situation.

Lessons are $25 for 30 minutes and $50 for 45 minutes, making them both accessible and affordable for students of all ages. A typical lesson will include a variety of elements designed to enhance the learning experience, starting with a warm-up that might involve flow studies, scales, or technical exercises tailored to the student’s level. Following this, we delve into foundational techniques that might include Clarke and Arban, which are essential for developing a solid skill set. Students will also have the opportunity to explore solo literature that showcases their personal musical interests and abilities, while sight-reading exercises will ensure they become adept at quickly interpreting new music. Additionally, duets will be incorporated into the lessons to foster collaborative skills and enhance the overall musical experience, although this component is not included for Zoom lessons. Through these diverse approaches, each lesson aims to cultivate a well-rounded musician.
